Teen Shot On Way To Summer Job 'A Good Role Model'

Jeremiah Kimble is praised for his work at the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club, where he worked as a junior counselor.

CHICAGO, IL - A 17-year-old who has been described as a "good role model" in his role as a junior counselor at the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club this summer was tragically shot multiple times while walking to work earlier this week. Jeremiah Kimble is "a great kid," according to HPNC Director of Programming Christy Beighe-Byrne.

"He is very responsible and was always willing to get down with the kids and make slime, play basketball or chaperone on a trip," Beighe-Byrne said. "We are very saddened, but hopeful that he will recover in his own way and possible comeback to mentor in the fall."

Kimble was one of two people shot Monday morning near 47th and Prairie in the Bronzeville neighborhood. He was walking to his summer job as counselor with the HPNC at the time, ABC-7 reports. He was shot twice in the chest, once in the neck and once in the back but is not considered the intended target in the shooting.
