University Cops Nab Suspected iPhone Thieves

A victim was robbed of an iPhone behind the Blackstone Library Sunday afternoon.

CHICAGO – University of Chicago police arrested two people on Sunday afternoon after a reported robbery behind the Blackstone Branch of the Chicago Public Library in Hyde Park.

The two unknown suspects approached someone walking in the area and "forcibly" took the iPhone from them, police said. (For more local news like this, subscribe to the free Hyde Park Patch newsletter.)

University police say they saw the suspects and took them both into custody after a brief foot chase.

They were turned over to Chicago police. Charges were not immediately available.

The victim’s iPhone was recovered.
