CHICAGO, IL - A few Chicago White Sox players visited and interacted with patients at La Rabida Children’s Hospital on the South Side earlier this week. Four players, play-by-play broadcaster Jason Benetti and members of the White Sox Volunteer Corps met with the patients as part of Sox Serve Week, an annual community outreach and fundraising campaign in its 10th year.
Players Matt Davidson, Reynaldo López, Yoán Moncada and Charlie Tilson brought the ballpark atmosphere to the patients on Tuesday, showing up in their 1983 throwback jerseys. Scroll through the photos at the top of this article for a look back at the team's visit to the hospital.
Sox Serve Week, sponsored in part by Beggars Pizza, Goose Island Beer Co., Guaranteed Rate, Magellan Corporation, Proven IT, United Airlines and Wintrust Community Banks, ran from June 11-16 and also included team members giving one fan the ultimate White Sox experience and performing random acts of kindness throughout the city.
