JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Chamber of Commerce has been a fixture on North Chicago Street for a number of years, but change is in the air. Joliet Chamber President Jen Howard informed Joliet Patch's editor that her Chamber building, 63 North Chicago St. is now officially for sale.

Prominent Joliet real estate agent Mark Koenig is marketing the downtown Joliet property. The Joliet Chamber building features six individual offices, a kitchen, two conference rooms, three bathrooms, a reception area and a four-car heated garage in the back of the building. There is also access to a couple additional parking spaces toward the back, Howard said.

The Chamber's asking price is $325,000, Howard said. The brick building encompasses 5,500 square feet, Howard said.

"We just do not need all the space because we had a downsize of our staff," Howard said. "Unfortunately, we had to make some layoffs because of COVID-19."

The Joliet Chamber intends to find other office space to lease in the downtown, preferably in the area of Chicago Street or along Van Buren Street, Howard said.

Howard said the Joliet Chamber would be ideal for a large Cook County or Du Page County law firm looking to expand because of the opening of the new $215 million Will County Courthouse. The 10-floor glass building will open for court activities next week. The new courthouse is less than two blocks away from the Joliet Chamber property.

If the Chamber property is not bought by a regional law office, Howard said, the property could also be converted into shared offices perhaps for an accounting or financial company.
