JOLIET, IL — When the Bakers Square franchise closed its long-time Joliet sit-down restaurant on West Jefferson Street in March 2019, the property owners hoped to fetch $1.25 million. Thousands of people drove past the for-sale sign at 2211 West Jefferson and nobody bought the land.

The real estate agents lowered their price to $850,000 and the same thing happened, nobody in Joliet snatched up the empty restaurant along the city's busy corridor. By this year, the price dropped to $795,000. Again, no buyers.

Most recently, the 5,000-square-foot indoor restaurant was listed on LoopNet for $735,000 and a buyer has not emerged.

In recent days, the for sale sign in front of the Bakers Square has been replaced by a new sign. The new sign proclaims that on Jan. 26, Absolute Auction will be selling the Joliet business property. Efforts to sell the Bakers Square are now being handled by Brad Thompson of Millennium Properties.

Thompson's phone is 312-338-3012.

"There is a large parking lot behind the building with room for 65 cars. Highly visible on Jefferson, this is a great opportunity to re-brand or redevelop the property in a prime commercial location. Nearby businesses include Dollar Tree, Presence Healthcare, Walgreens, Panera Bread, Wingstop and more," the listing on Millennium Properties informs interested buyers.
