Pier 1 Imports For Sale Near Louis Mall: Who Will Buy It?

JOLIET, IL — In January 2020, Patch reported that Pier 1 Imports, which has 26 locations in Illinois, was closing hundreds of stores. One of the stores that went out of business last year was the Pier 1 Imports at 3064 Plainfield Road, right near the Louis Joliet Mall.

Now, a Highland Park real estate company is trying to find a new owner for the old Pier 1 property. The empty store offers nearly 10,000-square-feet. There's 56 parking stalls, and there's 1.3 acres. The Pier 1 store was built in 1990.

The asking price on the empty retail store is not disclosed, according to the listing on LoopNet.

The area near the Louis Joliet Mall has seen a number of positive developments over the past several months. Just up the road, the new Costco opened in November at The Boulevards, at Interstate 55 and Route 30.

This month, Chick-fil-A Joliet opened about two blocks away from where the Pier 1 Imports store was located.
