1 Dead In Early-Morning Lemont House Fire
A 64-year-old man has died following a fire at a home in Lemont early Monday morning.
LEMONT, IL — A 64-year-old man has died following a fire at a home in Lemont early Monday morning.
According to the Lemont Fire Protection District, fire crews were called to the home in the 700 block of Czacki Street at 1:06 a.m. after a fire broke out and a family members became trapped inside.
Upon arrival, crews said fire was coming from the family room and bedroom windows and doors. Crews immediately began attacking the blaze as 35 additional firefighters were called to the scene due to the heavy smoke and flames.

The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes. Fire crews located the body of the 64-year-old man in the rear of the house. A neighboring home sustained minor damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, 19 fire investigators and Lemont police are trying to determine the cause.
Lemont Fire Protection District personnel fought the fire with assistance from nine surrounding fire agencies, which provided on-scene support and station coverage.
