125 New Coronavirus Cases In Lemont Over Past Week

Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 1,088 cases of coronavirus reported as of Nov. 23, compared to 963 cases on Nov. 16.

LEMONT, IL — The number of Lemont's coronavirus cases increased by 139 cases over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 1,088 cases of coronavirus reported as of Nov. 23, compared to 963 cases on Nov. 16.

There is no available information regarding the number of patients who are hospitalized or who have recovered per town.

District 113A has announced it will be on an adaptive pause until after Thanksgiving break. Students will return to hybrid learning on Nov. 30.

Though in-person learning is on pause, D113A continues to share data on COVID-19 in its schools, and the data was last updated on Nov. 23. 14 staff members are currently quarantined, which is a increase from the five staff members quarantined the week previous.

There are also four positive staff members currently, and four positive students. The total number of positive cases for students and staff since Sept. 28 is 50.

Lemont High School remains in session currently with hybrid learning. According to data from the high school, there are five active positive cases, and 28 people currently quarantining as of Nov. 20.

Since testing began, IDPH is reporting a total of 15,165 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60439.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, there have also been 11 coronavirus related deaths in Lemont since March 16. The deaths included one woman in her 50s, two women in their 60s, one woman in her 70s, four women above 80, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s and one man above 80. The most recent death was reported on Nov. 3.

DuPage County Health Department has also reported two coronavirus related deaths in Lemont.

As of Monday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 664,620 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 11,552 Illinois residents.

The state has developed resurgence criteria to identify early but significant increases of coronavirus transmission. With the new criteria, the state also developed new emergency management regions, and Lemont, as part of suburban Cook County, is now part of region 10. Region 10, as well as the rest of the state, are under mitigations which include the shutdown of indoor dining and bar service, as well as a limit on larger gatherings.

According to IDPH, as of data available on Nov. 23, region 10 has a test positivity rate of 15 percent.
