2 Lemont Wrestlers Place At State Competition

LEMONT, IL — Two Lemont High School wrestlers placed at Friday's Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association's state tournament in Springfield. Freshman Noah O'Connor placed sixth, and junior Moe Khalil placed fourth, coach Erik Murry told Patch.
O'Connor won two of his matches to get to the semi-final round, but lost to the eventual state champion, Markel Baker of Freeport, Murry said. Khalil also reached the semi-final round and went 3-2.
Junior Evan Schiffman was only one match away from placing as well, Murry said.

The team placed 11th in team points out of 59 teams.
Murry said it was a great experience for this young group, who should be excited for even more success next year.
