223 Main Now Open In Downtown Lemont

The event space at 223 Main St. can hold weddings, baby showers, birthday parties and more.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont's newest business, 223 Main, a premier event space, is now open. The event space is aptly located at 223 Main St., in downtown Lemont. The business is owned by husband and wife Lauren Evans and Hector Tamayo.

Lauren, who is from Chicago, said Hector grew up in Lemont, so that's why they opened their new business in town. The pair actually bought the building in December 2019, and weren't sure what to do with the space.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lauren and Hector ended up holding their own wedding in the space in June, and friends and family mentioned how nice of a space it would be for other events too.

"That's how the idea came for an event space," Lauren told Patch. "There's not a whole lot of options to rent a space in Lemont."

The business offers indoor and outdoor space, and it is newly remodeled with all new lighting as well.

Lauren said they have also held a baby shower and a gender reveal party, and could hold other events like bar and bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras, birthday parties and more.

Due to health restrictions, the space is for smaller gatherings right now. The business does allow outside catering and decorations, and you can purchase liquor packages or bring-your-own-bottle.

The 1,500-square-foot indoor space is wheelchair accessible, and has two bathrooms, a coat/storage closet, as well as a small food prep area with a three-compartment sink, fridge, commercial coffee maker, and prep table. There is also an outdoor side lot where gatherings can be held.

The outdoor space is also wheelchair accessible and is shaded by trees.

Right now, the business is booking friendsgiving and Christmas parties. If you'd like more information about the business, you can check out its Facebook page.
