50 MPH Gusts Possible As Rain, 'Embedded' Storms Approach IL
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of the area, and gusts of 45 or 50 mph are expected.
ILLINOIS — Rain, wind and thunderstorms are possible Thursday as a storm system approaches the Chicago area. The National Weather Service has also issued a wind advisory for most of the area. Gusts of 45 or 50 mph are expected.
The wind advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Cook and Will counties.

According to the weather service, gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and some tree limbs could be blown down.

Rain and "embedded" thunderstorms are expected Thursday, and areas south of Interstate 80 could see more than an inch of rain, according to the weather service forecast.
Wind gusts could also result in minor lakeshore flooding late Wednesday through Thursday. High waves of 8 to 13 feet are expected along Illinois shores, according to the weather service.
