6 To 9 Inches Of Snow Possible, Winter Storm Watch Issued For IL
Travel could be difficult and the snow may impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
ILLINOIS — A winter storm watch has been issued for the Chicago area as the largest snowfall of the year is expected Monday and Tuesday. A winter storm watch will be in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon for DeKalb, Kane, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, McHenry, Will, Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
The weather service said total snow accumulations of six to nine inches are possible and winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Travel could be difficult and the snow may impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
Snow most likely won't begin until later Monday afternoon north of I-88, and will likely be heavy on Monday evening, the weather service said.

Snow is also possible Wednesday, and temps will be in the high 20s or low 30s, according to the weather service. Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with a high of 27 and a high of 33 respectively.

MONDAY NIGHT: Snow. Low around 29. Blustery, with an east northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
TUESDAY: Snow, mainly before 1 p.m. High near 32. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
TUESDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of snow before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.
WEDNESDAY: A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 30.
