Three Cars Involved In Northbound I-55 Crash: State Police

The first car was travelling at a high rate of speed when it hit a second car, which then hit a third car, police said.

LEMONT, IL — Three cars were involved in a serious crash on northbound I-55 just south of Lemont on Wednesday afternoon, Illinois State Police said. All lanes are reopened around 9:35 p.m., Illinois State Police said.

Police said investigation reveals that the first car was travelling at a high rate of speed, when it struck the second vehicle, which forced the second vehicle into the third vehicle. The crash remains an open and ongoing investigation.

Police are not releasing any personal information on any of the drivers involved as family notifications are still being conducted for those who were transported to hospitals.
