Award-winning Author Visits District 113A

Students met Kirby Larson and heard about her career.

LEMONT, IL — During the final days of the school year, River Valley School and Scholastic Book Fairs proudly welcomed author, Kirby Larson. Ms. Larson is an award-winning author, having received the Newbery Honor in 2007. More recently, in 2015, her book Dash won the Scott O'Dell Historical Fiction prize. Her most recent publication, Audacity Jones to the Rescue, as well as other works were available through Scholastic Books and River Valley School. On Thursday, May 26, Kirby Larson came to visit River Valley School. She spoke to all students at grade-level presentations and spoke to the students about her career as an author.

Following her presentations, Ms. Larson remained at River Valley and met individually with students who wished to have one of her books personalized and autographed.
