Beloved Teacher Mourned in Lemont District 113A

A beloved teacher at Lemont District 113A has died, the superintendent announced Tuesday evening.

Susan Antonoff taught at Bromberek School, Central School and most recently at Old Quarry Middle School, where she taught seventh and eighth grades, according to the district website. She worked at District 113A for 18 years.

"She will forever be remembered as a fun, energetic teacher and colleague who students and staff loved and respected. She was a loyal colleague and a champion for those who needed help," said Dr. Courtney Orzel, superintendent of schools, in an email to staff. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Antonoff’s family and our entire school community as we mourn the loss of a vital educator who made a difference in the lives of our students and families in District 113A."

The district will have social workers and counseling support available for students, staff and community members all week at Old Quarry Middle School. The building will be open Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. and will remain open for support until 7 p.m. each day through Friday.
