LEMONT, IL — Downtown Lemont will soon be home to a new wedding venue and event space. The Bridge, 44 Stephen St., will hold its first wedding in June, and is currently finishing construction on the new space.

The building was the former site of Second Chance Thrift Shoppe, which closed last year.

Alisa Kulhanek told Patch her dad, Jerry, owns the building, and when they were in the process of demo-ing the building, she realized it would make a perfect wedding venue.

The 7,000-square-foot space has a ballroom and a cocktail room for events, with a capacity up to 350 guests. For parking, guests can utilize the parking garage in downtown Lemont, but larger events are required to provide a valet, Alisa said.

Valet services will use the Metra lot in downtown Lemont, she said.

"We're excited to start hosting stuff," Kevin said. Weddings aren't the only event the space can hold; the couple also sees it as a site for live music, concerts, and even bean bag tournaments.

The Bridge will also host a mini wedding expo in July.

Alisa said the venue will eventually have an outdoor space as well, which could be used for outdoor ceremonies.

"We both really love Lemont, it's kind of its own oasis," Kevin said.
