College Credits: Graduates Celebrate, Scholarship Achievements
Area students are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Students from area towns like New Lenox, Lockport, Frankfort, Lemont and Mokena are celebrating graduation from universities across the country and achievements in scholarship and service.

Paige Snyder, a Lincoln-Way East alumna, earned a Bachelor's degree in health sciences from Arizona State University, earning summa cum laude honors. Paige was involved with the Sun Devil Marching Band trumpet section as a member and holds a leaderboard position for rank leader. Paige also has been a member of the ASU Pre-Physician Assistant club and served as their Vice President and President for the past two years. Paige will be continuing her education to graduate school to become a physician assistant.

Hannah Slater of New Lenox Inducted Into Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society

Hannah Slater of New Lenox, was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society during The University of Alabama's virtual Tapping on the Mound ceremony April 9.
The purpose of Omicron Delta Kappa is to recognize those students who have attained high standards in collegiate activities, to inspire others to strive for similar attainments, and to bring together students in all areas of college life: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service; social and religious activities; campus government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts.
University of Mississippi Celebrates Class of 2021
Several area students were among the more than 5,000 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2021 who were celebrated during the university's 168th Commencement exercises April 29 - May 2.
Graduates include:
- Jennifer Lee, of Lockport, Juris Doctor degree in the School of Law
- Carley Katherine Smith, of New Lenox, Bachelor of Accountancy
- Emily Rose Cummings, of New Lenox, Bachelor of Business Administration
- Blake Horner, of Frankfort, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Allison Marie Schultz, of Mokena, Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Journalism and New Media
"This class of graduates is marked by incredible achievements, character and resilience, and it is a great privilege to celebrate them during Commencement," said UM Chancellor Glenn Boyce. "They have accomplished so much during their years at the university, and the path ahead is bright and filled with endless possibilities."
Connor Blair Presents at 2021 Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry
Connor Blair of New Lenox, is one of approximately 140 Central College students who presented academic research at the college's first annual Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry on April 28.
Blair's presentation was titled "Wind Energy and the Sustainable Future: the United States and Germany."
Central College is in Pella, Iowa.
Lucile Conway of Lemont Participates in UA's Cooperative Education Program
University of Alabama student Lucile Conway of Lemont, participated in University of Alabama's Cooperative Education Program for spring 2021. Conway worked for Mercedes-Benz.
In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student.
While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience.
Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.
