Area students are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Students from area towns like New Lenox, Homer Glen, Lemont, Frankfort, Lockport and Mokena are celebrating accomplishments throughout the semester, including making Dean's List, graduation, summer opportunities and other academic achievements.

Katelyn King of New Lenox was recently elected SGA President at Central Michigan University for the upcoming year. Katelyn is a Senior majoring in Statistics and Minoring in Leadership and Accounting.

Jacob Fisher, from Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, has announced he’ll be attending Augustana this fall and plans on continuing his water polo career as a member of Coach Ryan Pryor’s first-year Viking program.

A 6’, 175-pound utility player, Fisher was the leading goal-scorer for Coach Ryan Lodes’ Griffins this year. As a sophomore in 2019, Fisher, a two-year water polo letter winner, helped the Griffins go 23-10 and place fourth at the state tournament.
Fisher is also a two-year letter winner in Coach Steven Anderson’s Lincoln-Way East swimming program. He earned All- Southwest Suburban Conference honors in the 100 freestyle and 200 medley relay as a senior and qualified for state with the Griffins’ 200 medley relay team as a junior.
Fisher also competed for Coach Ross Widinski in cross country at Lincoln-Way East. Jacob is the son of Bradley Fisher and Kathleen Wilk-Fisher of Tinley Park. The LWE high honor roll member is planning on an Augustana major in secondary education.
Fisher will be a member of Augustana’s inaugural water polo squad in 2021.

Kyle Dixon named to Trine University President's List
Kyle Dixon of New Lenox, a Trine University student, was named to the President's List for the Spring 2021 term. Dixon is majoring in English Education.
To earn President's List honors, Trine University students must complete a minimum of 12 hours and have a grade point average of 3.750-4.000.
Manuel Urcino named to Trine University Dean's List
Manuel Urcino of Frankfort, a Trine University student, earned Dean's List recognition for the Spring 2021 term. Urcino is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
To earn Dean's List honors, Trine University students must complete a minimum of 12 hours and have a grade point average of 3.500-3.749.
Kelly Scott of Frankfort named to University of Utah's Spring 2021 Dean's List
Kelly Scott, of Frankfort, was named to the University of Utah's Spring 2021 Dean's List. Scott's major is listed as modern dance.
Scott was among more than 8,700 students named to the Fall 2020 Dean's List at the U. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.
Students named to Culver-Stockton College's Spring 2021 Honor Roll
Zachary Pytlewski from Lockport, and Aidan McGuire from Mokena, have been named to the Spring 2021 Honor Roll at Culver-Stockton College.
Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours with a grade point average between 3.2 and 3.49 on a 4.00 scale, and no grade lower than a C.
Sarah Maue of Homer Glen Named to Dean's Honor List At Cedarville University
Cedarville student Sarah Maue of Homer Glen, majoring in Linguistics, was named to the Dean's List for spring 2021. This recognition requires students to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Students Graduate from Cedarville University
Silas Rea from Homer Glen, graduated from Cedarville University with a Bachelor of Music Music Performance.
Michael Fernandez from New Lenox, graduated from Cedarville University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Graduation was held April 30 and May 1.
Student Named to Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University
Cedarville students Silas Rea of Homer Glen, majoring in Music Performance; Anna Dubois of New Lenox, majoring in nursing; and Ashley Williams of Frankfort, majoring in nursing, were named to the Dean's Honor List for spring 2021.
This recognition requires students to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Students Participate in UA's Cooperative Education Program
University of Alabama students Ennis Lange of New Lenox and Emma Lynch of Lemont will participate in UA's Cooperative Education Program for summer 2021. Lange is working for WestRock-Demopolis, and Lynch is working for Eastman Chemical.
In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student.
Morgan Maca of New Lenox earns Dean's List honors at Edinboro University
Morgan Rayna Maca of New Lenox, was named to the Dean's List at Edinboro University for the spring 2021 semester.
In order to attain this highly regarded academic honor, students must maintain a quality point average of 3.4 or higher, complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit and receive no grade lower than a C in any course.
Maca, whose major is Fine Arts-Applied Media Arts, was among nearly 1,200 students named to the spring 2021 Dean's List.

The University of Alabama awarded some 5,860 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies April 30-May 2. Graduates included:

Southeast Missouri State University Announces Spring 2021 Dean's List
Students named to the spring 2021 Dean's List at Southeast Missouri State University include: Miriam Gorecki of New Lenox, Riley Schuld of New Lenox, Margaret Stellwagen of New Lenox.
Students named to the list earned at least a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below a B and received no failing grades in enrolled, credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.
Gorecki and Schuld were also named to the President's List.
Students named to the President's List earned at least a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below an A and received no failing grades in enrolled, credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.
Students named to Dean's List at UW-Whitewater
Abi Baumgartner from Mokena and Miles Hagen from New Lenox were named to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean's List for the 2021 spring semester.
Dean's List students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.
The Registrar's Office reports 3,412 students were selected for the Dean's List for the spring semester. About 12,000 students are currently enrolled at the university's Whitewater and Rock County campuses.
Noah Healy earns academic all-Big Ten honors
Noah Healy of Frankfort, is one of more than 130 University of Iowa student-athletes named to the 2021 Spring Academic All-Big Ten team. The list includes student-athletes from baseball, men's golf, women's golf, rowing, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track and field, and women's track and field.
Healy, a senior who is a member of Iowa's men's track and field program, is majoring in biomedical engineering.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Christian Kustwan named to Dean's List at Cumberlands
To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (a full course load), maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and be in good academic standing.
Christian Kustwan of New Lenox, is one of the students named to the spring 2021 Dean's List.
Mitchell of New Lenox Earns an MVC Scholar-Athlete Honor
The Bradley track teams were honored for their work both on the track and in the classroom on as 12 Braves were recognized on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Teams.
Senior Evan Mitchell from New Lenox was one of the students representing the Bradley men's team as an honoree.
To earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams, a student-athlete must place in the top eight of an individual event or the top three of a relay at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average, while being a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.
