Estimated Repair Time 'Fluctuating,' Still No Outdoor Watering
Several parts of the well are being inspected, and the suction adapter was found to have wear holes and a crack.

LEMONT, IL — The estimated repair time of Well No. 6 is fluctuating, the Village said in a message to residents on Wednesday. The well first failed June 5, and the Village prohibited outdoor watering shortly thereafter.
The well was pulled and inspected, and various parts were sent for inspection and repair. According to the village, the bowl assembly is now being reassembled, the motor for the well is being disassembled/inspected/repaired, new pipe and couplers have been ordered and are expected by the end of the week, pipe threading continues, and the suction adapter was found to have wear holes and a crack.
The four remaining wells can accommodate residents' daily inside usage of water, but the village has prohibited outdoor watering, so the other wells can meet the needs of inside water usage.

"We are receiving a number of complaints from residents that people are still using their outside lawn irrigation systems and spraying their lawns," the village said. "We have been fortunate that the past weeks have brought much rain, and most types of grass can survive extended periods of drought. We ask that residents shut off their outside lawn sprinkler systems and discontinue the use of spraying lawns until Well No. 6 is back online."
The village said it has a new well and water tower budgeted as part of its 5-year capital budget plan. The village board will begin evaluating options for this improvement over the next several months.
