Here's what is open and closed in Lemont on July 4th.

LEMONT, IL — The Fourth of July and unofficial middle of summer is quickly approaching. Independence Day is a federal holiday, which means that government offices are closed, and many people are also off work for the day. This year, July 4th falls on a Wednesday.

If you're looking for something to do for the holiday, the Lemont Park District will put on the annual fireworks show at Centennial Park at 9:30 p.m. July 3. The Independence Day Extravaganza which kicks off at 4 p.m., when the premium kids zone, the beer garden and the food court opens. There will also be music by GAC Entertainment. At 6 p.m., Dick Diamond & The Dusters will perform.

  • Village of Lemont Offices - Closed
  • Lemont Public Library - Closing at 3 p.m. July 3. Closed all day July 4.
  • Post offices - Closed
  • The CORE - Open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Centennial Building (Park District) - Closed
  • Garbage services - Families with Wednesday collection will be delayed one day with collection on Thursday, July 5. Households with Thursday collection will be delayed one day with collection on Friday, July 6 and so forth.

Most grocery stores and retail stores will be open, although they could have limited hours, so make sure to call or check before you head out.
