3 Inches Of Lake Effect Snow Possible For Cook County

According to the National Weather Service, localized total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible.

ILLINOIS — A winter weather advisory has been issued for southern and central Cook County until 4 p.m. Wednesday as lake effect snow moves into the area. According to the National Weather Service, localized total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible.

Snow is expected to hit Chicago, Cicero, Oak Lawn, Oak Park, La Grange, Calumet City, Oak Forest, Lemont, Orland Park and Park Forest, the National Weather Service said.

The weather service said lake effect snow can result in changing visibility and road conditions.

The weather service said Cook County could see the lake effect snow between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., before it moves into northwest Indiana.

Cold temperatures are also expected Wednesday night, as overnight wind chills will fall to zero to 10 degrees below zero, according to the weather service.

The weather service is also looking at possible accumulating snowfall Saturday afternoon into Sunday.
