Lemont Adopts $27.48 Million Budget For 2021-22
Finance Director Christina Smith said the budget includes a large investment in the village's infrastructure.
LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Village Board approved a $27,481,571 million operating and capital improvement budget for fiscal year 2021-22 at its April 12 meeting.
"This ordinance presented tonight is the final voting step that the board will have with the fiscal year 22 annual operating and capital improvement budget," Finance Director Christina Smith said at the meeting.
Lemont's fiscal year begins May 1 and runs through April 30, 2022.

"We do have a large investment in our infrastructure this coming year," Smith said. "We've been very fortunate to secure some grant funding, and we've been working with a lot of agencies this year on various projects."
Smith added that it's a "very encompassing budget, and we're very pleased that it's a balanced budget."

With the approval from the board, the budget is finalized for distribution to the counties and submitted for a budget award.
Highlights of the budget include: a proposed budget of $27,481,571; with about $12.4 million budgeted to the general fund, which includes operating expenses for police, public works, finance, community development, administration, legal, village board and emergency management, board documents state. Expenses will also go toward other funds like the infrastructure fund (about $2 million), water and sewer fund (about $7.4 million), police pension fund (about $1 million), and the motor fuel tax fund (about $1.3 million).
