Lemont Bears Advance 11 Wrestlers to IKWF State Championships

Another Successful Sectional Tournament for the Lemont Bears Youth Wrestling Club

March 3, 2019; IKWF Central Chicago Sectional Tournament

Lemont Bears’ coaches Tommy Ambrose, Keith Kamberos, Michael Murphy, Jason Nash, Pat O’Connor, Steve Schuit, Mike Togher and Kevin Zator led the Lemont Bears Wrestling Club to another successful Central Chicago Sectional outcome. Wrestlers must place in top 3 at sectionals to advance to state. For the fourth straight year, the Bears have sent 10+ wrestlers to the IKWF (Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation) State Championships Tournament. This year the Bears will be sending 7 former state qualifiers and 4 first-time state qualifiers. Qualifiers this year include three Novices (10-11 years old); Cory Zator (66 pounds), Dylan Wilms (122 pounds) & Jake Sulzberger (130 pounds), as well as, eight Seniors (12-14 years old); former state placer Carter Mikolajczak (74 pounds), former two-time state placer Jackson Smith (89 pounds), Sam Schuit (95 pounds), Jimmy Lalezas (108 pounds), John O’Connor (115 pounds), Roberto Patino (147 pounds), Alex Pasquale (177 pounds) & Wojtek Chrobak (215 pounds).

The state championships will be held in Rockford on March 7-9 where 8 sectionals merge to create a 24 man bracket of the best Illinois wrestlers for each weight class by division. This year Lemont Bears will be wearing green in honor of #elliestrong in their quest for greatness. Good luck Lemont Bears!
