Lemont Coronavirus Update: Increase in Local Confirmed Cases
Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Lemont.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont has seen an increase in confirmed cases of the the new coronavirus as the outbreak in Illinois jumped by almost 1,000 cases in the past 24 hours.
County data confirmed 15 cases of COVID-19 in Lemont: one case in DuPage County and 14 in Cook County. However, Will County does not report cases by town, so a definitive case count for the village is unknown.
According to Johns Hopkins University and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the state now has 6,980 cases as of Wednesday. The state has also seen 141 deaths related to the virus. These are the county case numbers:

- Suburban Cook County: 2,065 cases and 56 deaths
- DuPage County: 392 cases and 12 deaths

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker also announced the extension of statewide school closures until April 30. on Tuesday. Pritzker's original order called for schools to close until April 8.

HOSPITALS
Silver Cross Hospital confirmed Wednesday that the hospital will comply with a state request to treat two Stateville Correctional Center inmates with COVID-19. MORE.
Silver Cross Hospital is still accepting donations of N95 and surgical procedure masks, Nitrile procedure gloves, hand sanitizer, grocery, gas or restaurant gift cards for employees, and bleach wipes. It will now also accept hand-sewn masks.
CANCELLATIONS/CLOSURES
Gov. Pritzker also extended the Illinois stay-at-home order until April 30, affecting school, library and park closures across the state.
The Archdiocese of Chicago has suspended all normal religious services, which includes celebrations for Easter Week. The services are canceled until further notice. The Islamic Foundation of the Southwest Suburbs has also suspended its Friday services. MORE.
