Lemont Debuts Revamped Village Website

Website geared toward helping citizens find information faster.

LEMONT, IL — The Village of Lemont announced this week the launch of its redesigned website, www.lemont.il.us, which will take place on Thursday, August 11. The new site features a fresh look, easier navigation and incorporates user-friendly features.

“Our website was redesigned to increase communication and engagement with our community and to enhance online transparency,” stated Village Administrator George Schafer. With the high usage of mobile devises, we’ve included a responsive design which adjusts viewing on any device. Another opportunity to connect with our citizens is the inclusion of a mobile app, “Village of Lemont,” which will be available to download in September.”

Citizens will experience a simple layout with frequently accessed items located conveniently on a menu bar. This includes links to online payments, FOIA submissions, Stay Informed e-news signup, Report a Concern, and a link to the transparency page. An easier navigation structure includes “How Do I?” to help citizens find information faster.

There are many enhancements to the new site, but one of the more significant is the addition of CivicSend, an e-communication tool. “We incorporated CivicSend as our primary means of communication to provide timely news and notifications to our residents. This centralized communication tool will improve efficiency and increase citizen engagement,” said George Schafer. In order to receive messages, citizens need to sign up through the Stay Informed feature. The Village will no long be using the Nixle communication tool to send notifications after the launch, and encourages residents to sign up through Stay Informed.

New to the social media scene for the Village is the addition of live streaming of its bi-monthly Village Board meetings on YouTube. The YouTube icon link is located under the website search box and on the transparency page, or search for “Village of Lemont” in YouTube and be sure to subscribe. The Village Board Meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m.
