Lemont Drama Club’s 'A Night of One Acts' to Feature Student Directors

Shows Jan. 26-28. Tickets may be purchased at the door, and are $10 for adults and $7 for children, senior citizens and students with ID.

LEMONT, IL — Student-driven and student-directed, Lemont High School’s Drama Club will feature “A Night of One Acts” as its winter play. This eclectic compilation of one-act plays will play on the school’s Performing Arts Center stage from January 26-28.

“A Night of One Acts” will run nightly at 7 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center from January 26-28. Tickets may be purchased at the door, and are $10 for adults and $7 for children, senior citizens and students with a valid school ID. Seating is general admission.

The production will include four one-act plays, all of which are directed by students.

“Booby Trap” is a work from Ed Monk that will be directed by junior Joseph Storti. It portrays an American soldier in a combat zone who is trapped by a landmine. As he waits to see what will happen to him, scenes from his past, present and future unfold around him.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Debutante” was adapted by Jack Sharrar and will be directed by junior Benjamin Dirst. A bittersweet romance, wealthy debutante Rosalind faces a big decision: be with the handsome Amory Blaine, the love of her life who cannot provide for her in a way in which she is accustomed, or allow her spoiled nature to keep her from true love?

“Ronnie and Annabella’s Last Two Weeks” is written and directed by sophomore Arielle Lyon. It follows the title characters as they team up in search of putting together their own memorable high school story. This humorous work about movie and character clichés touches on hot topics ranging from love to Communism.

Joe Landry’s “The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play” was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock and will be directed by junior Stephen Pesole. Performed as a live radio play, this romantic thriller is a fast-paced ride set in London in the 1930s that details a man’s efforts to prove his innocence in the murder of a mysterious woman he just met.

“A Night of One Acts” will be performed under the direction of Stephanie Cesaroni, with Paula Smith serving as the assistant director and Matt Davis in charge of set construction.

Those planning to attend any performance of “A Night of One Acts” may park in the school’s parking garage or in the lot outside the Performing Arts Center; both are accessible off of Julia Street.

Lemont High School is located at 800 Porter Street in Lemont.
