Lemont Firefighters Want to Give MDA the Boot

Firefighters will be collecting for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Friday, Oct. 28.

LEMONT, IL — Members of the Lemont Fire Protection District, CITGO Lemont Refinery Fire Department, Lockport Fire Protection District, and Romeoville Fire Department, together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will fan out in a joint effort across the Lemont, Lockport, and Romeoville areas with boots in hand for the fire fighters' annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the

harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility.

Local firefighters will be stationed at corners on Friday, Oct. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. Look for them at State and 127th Street in Lemont.

Funds raised through 2016 Fill the Boot drives empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Lurie Children’s Hospital, UIC Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.

They also help give more than 90 local kids the opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center.
