Lemont Mourns Death of Beloved Community Member Keith Latz

Latz was a generous volunteer and community supporter whose contributions are remarkable.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont community is mourning the death of a beloved community member.

Keith Latz, 57, died suddenly Monday, Sept. 5, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. He was known for his multitude of contributions to Lemont, which included serving as trustee for the Lemont Fire Protection District from 2002-present; a former member of Lemont Open Space Advisory Commission from 2008-2014; Alvernia Manor Nursing Home Board of Directors from 2007-2012; coach and former member of Lemont Little League Board of Directors; former president of Lemont Safety Village; former Village of Lemont Trustee from 1993-2001, and past president of the Lemont Jaycees from 1990-1991.

He spent his time assisting in planning Keepataw Days, or volunteering for Lemont Channel 6 as a broadcaster and in video taping. You might know him from the basketball court, where he spent time as a referee and coach for both boys' and girls' teams. He was also a eucharistic minister, usher, and member of the Holy Name Society and SS. Cyril and Methodius Church.

He is survived by his wife Deborah and children Taylor (Angel), Nicole and Alicia.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. 108 Illinois St. Lemont. Funeral services set for Friday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m. from the funeral home, to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment private.
