Mission Stay Saturday: Lemont's Hope and Friendship Foundation is seeking volunteers for its final two "Mission Stay Saturdays." On Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, volunteers are needed to help with yard work and small fix-up jobs around town, according to Hope and Friendship founder Terri O'Neill-Borders. The group meets at the Lemont Police Department, 14600 127th St. at 8 a.m. For more information, email hopeandfriendship@comcast.net.
Paws in the Park: The Lemont Park District will host "Paws in the Park" at 10 a.m. Saturday at Covington North Park, 1257 Covington Drive. Residents are invited to enjoy a variety of activities, demonstrations, shopping with pet vendors, and mingling with other pets and pet lovers.
Greatest Show Unearthed: A group of local hearse enthusiasts is set to take over downtown Lemont on Saturday for its 15th annual "Greatest Show Unearthed" convention. The show, sponsored by the Plainfield-based LasRyds Hearse Club, will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Talcott Square parking lot in downtown Lemont. The family-friendly event is free to the public and will feature a display of hearses—some dating back to the 1930s.
