Lemont’s Julia Orozco to Play Softball at Dominican

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior outfielder Julia Orozco has committed to play softball at Dominican University beginning in Spring 2018.

Orozco is expected to play an important role for head coach Chris Traina’s squad this spring after helping the team to a 15-15-1 record and an IHSA Regional title in her first varsity season in 2016.

Career Highlights
• Made her varsity debut as a junior in 2016, playing in 26 games
• Batted .290 (18-63) with two doubles and a triple
• Drove in eight runs while scoring 13 times
• Handled 12 of 13 chances in the field successfully
• Plays travel softball for the Mizuno Hawks
• High honor roll student
• Will play for head coach Cristina Lukas at Dominican University, an NCAA Division III program that is located in River Forest, Ill., and is a member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Stars were 26-15 in 2016.
