Lemont’s Newest Athletic Hall of Fame Members Set for Sept. 18 Induction
Reception set to begin at noon.
LEMONT, IL — The newest members of Lemont High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame will be introduced at a ceremony on Sunday, September 18, at Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont. Included among the hall of fame’s 12th induction class will be Catherine Chappell ‘03, Eric Michaelsen ‘81 and members of the 1973-74 and 1974-75 boys’ basketball teams.
The 2016 Lemont High School Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony will begin with a reception at noon on September 18. Lunch will be served at 12:45 p.m., with the induction ceremony beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m. Cog Hill Golf Club is located at 12294 Archer Avenue in Lemont.
Tickets are $25 each; reservations must be made through the Lemont High School Athletic Department by Wednesday, September 14. To make a reservation, call the athletic department at (630) 243-3207.

CATHERINE CHAPPELL ‘03 – Standout athlete who participated in five sports in high school ... earned multiple team MVP honors in track and field ... still holds school records in four events (100-, 200- and 400-meter dash, shot put), and is part of two school-record relay teams .. IHSA State Finals qualifier in the shot put as a senior in 2003 ... earned basketball team MVP honors as a junior in 2002 ... National Honor Society student ... played five sports at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (track and field, basketball, soccer, cross country, golf) ... named to the MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014 ... earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the heptathlon (2007) and long jump (2008) ... finished her career with 12 school records in track and field ... finished as MSOE’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder ... two-time all-conference basketball player who twice ranked among the nation’s top 25 scorers ... Kodak All-America Honorable Mention performer as a senior in 2007 ... earned all-conference honors the one season she played soccer at MSOE ... MSOE’s Senior Athlete of the Year in 2007 ... MSOE’s first-ever finalist for the Jostens Trophy.
ERIC MICHAELSEN ‘81 – Posted a 106-33 record in 12 seasons as LHS Head Football Coach (.763 winning percentage) ... finished with a career IHSA Playoff record of 22-9 (.710 winning percentage) ... two-time IHSA Class 6A State Runner-Up (2007, 2008) ... two-time IHSA Class 6A State Semifinalist (2011, 2012) ... 2012 Daily Southtown Coach of the Year ... six-time SSC Conference-Blue Division Champion (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) ... Suburban Prairie Conference-East Division Champion (2005) ... teams made nine consecutive IHSA Playoff appearances (2004-2012), and won at least one game in each year ... collected seven 10-win seasons, including six consecutively from 2007-2012 ... led Lemont to three undefeated regular seasons (2008, 2010, 2011) ... guided Lemont to a school-record 13 wins in 2008 ... served as head coach in the Illinois Shrine All-Star Football Game in 2008, and as an assistant coach in 2009 ... chosen as an assistant coach for the Under Armour All-American Game in 2013 ... in 20 seasons as a high school head coach, posted a 165-58 record (.740) record and led his team to 15 playoff appearances ...
