Lemont Sends 11 Wrestlers To State Competition

LEMONT, IL — Lemont will send 11 wrestlers to the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association's state tournament after winning the 2A sectional open on June 19 in Orland Park, Coach Erik Murry told Patch. The team captured the sectional title with 228.5 points and four first-place finishes.

Murry said Lemont's 11 wrestlers is the most that any other team will have representing in 2A.

The state competition will be held Friday at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield.

Individual place winners for Lemont included: freshman Carter Mikolajczak (1st), junior Moe Khalil (1st), junior Stas Antalok (4th), junior Devin Gozalez (1st), freshman Alex Pasquale (2nd), freshman Noah O'Connor (2nd), sophomore Sammy Schuit (2nd), sophomore Johnny O'Connor (2nd), junior Evan Schiffman (2nd), junior Jake Zator (1st), and senior Connor Stomp (2nd).
