Tournament brought in teams from across the Southland.

—Story submitted
The Lemont Indians Youth Lacrosse Club earlier this month played in the two-day Southside Summer Slam Tournament which was held at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. This tournament brings together teams from all over the south suburbs of Chicago and Northwest Indiana. It was a very successful event, despite the heat on Saturday, June 11, and notably the Lemont U9 Team made it all the way to the championship game and ended up in second place. The U13 team made it all the way to the championship game and won the tournament in a hard-fought game against a very well-coached and seasoned lacrosse club in Beverly. The final score was 4-3 in Lemont’s favor.
The Lemont Youth Lacrosse program is growing every year and the program had nearly 90 players participate this year at the U9, U11, U13 and U15 levels. The season normally starts in March and ends in June. For players interested in learning more there is a clinic that will be held at Bambrick Park on June 21, 22 and 23. The Lemont High School coaches will be running the clinic. Interested families can learn more and register for the clinic by logging on to http://lemontindiansyouthlacrosse.com/. The cost for the 3 days is $75.
