Lemont's Celine Ratulowski Selected for IHSA Student Advisory Committee

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School sophomore Celine Ratulowski has been chosen to serve on the IHSA Student Advisory Committee for the next two years. Ratulowski, who will begin serving on the committee in April, is the third Lemont student chosen to serve on the committee since its inception in 2009.

The Student Advisory Committee is comprised of a diverse group of students who participate in interscholastic athletics and activities and are focused on providing education and leadership through open and honest communication with all member school students, administrators and coaches. The committee serves as a liaison between students, administrators, the IHSA Staff and Board of Directors. The Student Advisory Committee promotes the ideals of the IHSA, including leadership, sportsmanship and integrity.

Students serving on the Student Advisory Committee must display strong character and commitment to sportsmanship and integrity; demonstrate leadership in their schools; be involved in at least two IHSA sponsored activities; and demonstrate a commitment to representing the interest of all students participating in interscholastic activities.

As part of their duties, members of the Student Advisory Committee attend all committee meetings; serve as the voice of students from their respective districts within the IHSA governance structure, and offer input and suggestions on current issues facing students; give input regarding rules and regulations; give input on IHSA special initiatives; serve as the planning committee for the Leadership Conference and Do What’s Right! Workshops; serve as presenters, moderators, facilitators and recruiters for the leadership conference and Do What’s Right! Workshops; promote a positive image of students participating in interscholastic competition; and assist in the development of marketing campaigns promoting sportsmanship, healthy choices, participation, and other areas of emphasis.

Lemont’s previous IHSA Student Advisory Committee members were Zach Howell ‘10, who was picked for the inaugural committee in 2009 and served from 2009-10, and Rebekah Michaelsen '12, who served from 2010-12.
