Lemont's Outdoor Water Ban To Continue Until Further Notice
The motor to the village's well No. 6 has been sent away for rebuilding and repair, but officials say the process could take 3-4 weeks.
LEMONT, IL — Village officials announced Thursday that outdoor watering remains prohibited until further notice as a village well undergoes repairs in a process that could take three to four weeks.
Village officials said in a social media post that the motor of Well No. 6 is being shipped to a company for rebuilding and repair. A temporary motor is ready to be installed and that the bowl assembly of the well has been blasted and inspected and that threading of the well continues.
“We appreciate everyone's cooperation and understanding during this time,” the village wrote in the post on Thursday. “This is certainly an unfortunate situation, and all involved are doing everything possible to bring Well #6 online as quickly as possible.”

Village officials asked residents to continue to conserve water inside to be used to be used for outdoor watering purposes. The village also said it is “extremely important” for residents to continue to adhere to the outdoor water ban so that the capacity of the village’s water supply in existing wells can accommodate daily water usage.
