LHS Doubles Team Heads To IHSA Boys Tennis State Finals

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School juniors Safin Saraiya and Nathan Svoboda will represent Lemont at the 2021 IHSA Class A boys tennis state finals. Saraiya and Svoboda, a doubles team, placed fourth at sectional competition to earn their trip to the state finals, according to the school.
This is the 14th time in the last 15 seasons that the boys tennis program will be represented in state finals competition, the school said. The state finals will be held Thursday through Saturday, and is hosted by Districts 211, 214 and 220.
Saraiya and Svoboda each will make their state finals debut, the school said. They teamed for straight sets wins in the first two rounds of sectional competition before ultimately settling for a fourth place finish. They enter the state finals with a 15-4 record, which includes a spotless 4-0 record in conference play, according to the school.

Saraiya and Svoboda placed first in No. 1 doubles as Lemont swept the top spots at the 2021 South Suburban Conference-Blue Division Meet, marking the program’s 13th SSC Blue title in 14 seasons (2007-18, 2021) under head coach Jon DeGuzman, the school said. Lemont posted a 10-6 record in dual matches this season, including a 5-0 mark in SSC play.
