LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior Megan Hunt will compete at the 2021 IHSA Class 3A Girls Track and Field State Finals, which will be contested on Saturday at Eastern Illinois University, the school said in a release. Hunt will make her state finals debut after setting a school record in the long jump at the IHSA Lockport Sectional on June 3.

In her first attempt at the sectional, Hunt recorded a jump of 17’11.25”, establishing a new school record, the school said. That effort was good for third place at one of the state’s most competitive sectionals, and eclipsed the state’s qualifying mark of 17’07.00”. Hunt also placed among the top ten in both the 100 and 300-meter hurdles and competed as part of 4x400 meter relay at sectionals.

Hunt also had four top-two finishes at the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division Meet last month. She won the pole vault, and placed second in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, to help coach Tim Plotke’s team to a fourth place finish, according to the school.
