CHICAGO— The Illinois Department of Transportation or IDOT announced Thursday that seven construction projects are planned for this spring in parts of Kane and DuPage counties.

The projects are part of Governor J.B. Pritzker's recent Rebuild Illinois capital program, which passed in 2019 with the goal of investing $33.2 billion into Illinois' transportation systems. This spring's projects focus mainly on highways and streets and will represent an investment of $41 million for the region. The price includes both materials and new jobs, according to a release from IDOT.

"These projects represent a significant investment in Kane and DuPage counties and are a big step forward in our work to improve safety, mobility and create economic opportunity for years to come," said Acting Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. "We're asking drivers to be patient, slow down and pay extra attention driving in and around any work zone."
