Metra Expands Rush Hour Service For Heritage Corridor Line
Another morning train and afternoon train has been added for the Heritage Corridor line, which stops in Lemont, Romeoville and Lockport.
LEMONT, IL — Metra has announced it will expand rush hour service to meet growing ridership for seven additional lines, including the Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor runs from Joliet to Chicago, and has stops in Summit, Willow Springs, Lemont, Romeoville and Lockport.
The new schedule will take effect on July 12, according to a release from Metra.
“My Metra is about listening to the needs of our riders. These new schedules are intended to help our customers transition back to a regular work commute providing them with more choices and flexibility,” said Metra CEO/Executive Director Jim Derwinski in a release. “We expect ridership to continue to increase as the summer progresses and will continue to monitor conditions and make schedule adjustments that are responsive to our customers’ needs.”

In the morning, the new schedule adds an entire new train, the 914, which starts in Joliet at 5:45 a.m., 5:52 a.m. in Lockport, 5:58 a.m. in Romeoville, 6:05 a.m. in Lemont, 6:13 a.m. in Willow Springs, 6:21 a.m. in Summit and arrives at 6:52 a.m. at Union Station in Chicago.
The afternoon schedule also adds a new train, the 915, which starts in Chicago at 3:25 p.m., arrives in Summit at 3:49 p.m., Willow Springs at 3:57 p.m., Lemont at 4:06 p.m., Romeoville at 4:10 p.m., Lockport at 4:16 p.m., and Joliet at 4:31 p.m.

There is no weekend service on the Heritage Corridor line, according to Metra.
