No Injuries Reported After Lemont Fire: Fire District
The attic fire happened early Monday on Short Street.
LEMONT, IL — No injuries were reported after an attic fire on Short Street in Lemont early Monday, according to the Lemont Fire Protection District Facebook page.
Crews responded to the multi-family structure family in the 300 block of Short Street at 4:48 a.m. Monday and found smoke coming from the attic of the building, according to a release. It took about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Crews remained on the scene for an additional hour for overhaul, according to the district. Five surrounding fire departments provided assistance, and no civilians or firefighters were injured.

The fire district said the Red Cross was notified to assist with displaced families.
The Lemont Fire Protection District reminds everyone to identify a second exit from any commercial building. If a fire alarm sounds, take action and leave the building until firefighters have given the all clear to re-enter. Have an escape plan, practice it, and be prepared to use it in the event of any fire.
