Oakwood, River Valley Schools Evacuated after Reports of Smoke
All students were safe during the incident Wednesday morning.

LEMONT, IL — Oakwood and River Valley Schools in Lemont were evacuated at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday after a report of the smell of smoke coming from a classroom at Oakwood School. Because the schools are connected, all occupants of both buildings followed emergency response procedures and immediately evacuated the buildings.
All students and staff are safe and accounted for, according to an alert from the school district.
The Lemont Fire Protection District responded immediately and will remain on the scene to assist District 113A’s Director of Operations with identifying the cause of the smoke. Follow-up information will be sent to parents later today.
