Obituary: ​Julie Louise Fessett

Lying in state Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4 p.m. until time of funeral Mass at 5 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 605 State St., Lemont.

Julie Louise Fessett, nee Barauski, age 96, of Havana, died Jan. 20, 2020. Preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Fessett (Sept. 17, 2002) and her parents, Stanley and Louise Barauski.

Survived by her daughter Joanne Fessett; her granddaughter, Melissa (Aaron) Downs; and two grandchildren, Howie and Ellie Jo.

Julie was born and raised in Chicago, then moved to Lemont with her husband James. They retired to Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1989. James died in 2002 and Julie moved to be near her daughter in Havana, Illinois.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker but worked for a short time at Continental Can Company in Chicago, Atomic Energy Commission at Argonne and Argonne National Laboratory. Owned and managed Jim’s Bait Shop alongside her husband for many years in Sag.

Her greatest love, besides her great-grandchildren, was reading. She loved to work in the yard, sew and watch the Bears.

Lying in state Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4 p.m. until time of funeral Mass at 5 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 605 State St., Lemont. Interment will take place Friday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Illinois Audubon Society, PO Box 2547, Springfield, IL 62708.
