LEMONT, IL — Former Lemont resident Steve Burger, age 56, died suddenly on Jan. 23, 2020, at his home in Congerville. Steve was born in Lemont and grew up on Logan Street. He was the son of long-time Lemont residents William and Rhoda Burger.

Steve attended Lemont public schools and graduated from LHS in the class of 1982. In high school, he was active with the band playing the tuba. He also enjoyed spending time at the quarries before it was either cool or commercial. After college (University of Illinois at Chicago) he relocated to Central Illinois with his wife Dawn (Cameron from Homer Glen). They have three children Haley (25), Seth (22) and Malia (20). Steve worked in IT, the majority of his career with Microsoft.

Steve was an avid trap shooter and car lover. Formerly he enjoyed drag racing. He also loved to grill and add excess amounts of chili peppers to everything including cake. He was much loved by his family, friends and his beloved dog Kai. He was known for having a great sense of humor, albeit a bit excessive in the "Dad Humor" genre.
