Outdoor Watering Still Prohibited Due To Well Failure In Lemont

A company is pulling the well by removing it from the ground, so that the issue can be assessed and repairs can be done, the village said

LEMONT, IL — Outdoor watering is still prohibited in Lemont after the failure of well 6 on June 5. The well is the main water source for the village, so residents are asked to restrict the use of outside watering to allow the remaining four wells to handle everyday inside water use, the village said.

A company is pulling the well by removing it from the ground, so that the issue can be assessed and repairs can be done, the village said.

"We understand that this is an inconvenience to our residents, and we are working to rectify this situation as quickly as possible," the village said in a message to residents. "Please know that it is extremely important that you adhere to the prohibited outside water usage so that the capacity of water in our remaining wells can accommodate residents indoor daily usage."

The village will provide updates when it has new information to report.
