Pawz And Klawz Reopens May 1 In Lemont
Pawz & Klawz had been closed since March 21 when all non-essential businesses were closed due to the coronavirus, but will now reopen May 1.
LEMONT, IL — When Gov. J.B. Pritzker extended the stay-at-home order until May 30, he also made some modifications to the order, including allowing animal grooming services to reopen. In Lemont, Pawz & Klawz had been closed since March 21 when all non-essential businesses were closed, but will now reopen Friday, May 1.
"We couldn't be happier," owners Frank Pishler and Pam O'Deen said.
Pishler and O'Deen said the announcement that animal grooming could reopen was a surprise to them.

With the reopening, there will be some new guidelines for customers to follow. According to Pishler, the door to the shop will be locked, and you should pull your car up to the store when you arrive for your appointment. An employee will come outside to meet you and collect your dog to be groomed and listen to grooming instructions.

The business will still take cash and check, but is encouraging customers to use credit and debit. If you're using credit or debit, you can call the business some time during your dog's appointment and pay over phone. When you come to pick your dog up, an employee will again bring the animal out to you.
Usually, the business does allow walk-in appointments for nail trims, but is now asking you call ahead so employees can tell you when to arrive. Nail trims will take place at the front of the store, while the grooming area in the back will remain for grooming appointments only.
O'Deen said the business usually only grooms three dogs at a time with three groomers. She added that due to the nature of grooming, the stations are spread out and separated already due to the equipment and space needed.
The business is also doing additional cleaning and sanitizing and is in the process of scheduling someone to do 'deep cleans' on a regular basis.
"We're so very happy to get back to work," Pishler said. "We're just really excited, we can't wait to help the community to get these furry puppies cleaned up."
