Pollyanna Beer Will Be On Tap at White Sox Home Games

Lemont's hometown brewery makes Chicago ballpark debut.

Lemont residents and South Side baseball fans will feel even more at home while watching a Sox game in the stands, as a familiar Lemont name makes it debut.

Pollyanna Brewery’s flagship beer The Full Lemonty will be served at Sox home games—specifically on the 100 level, first and third base sides.

If you’ve never tried this particular beer, the crisp and clean golden ale is “brewed with white wheat, Belgian aromatic malts, and a blend of American hops leaving a delicate bitterness to balance the subtle, underlying sweetness,” giving craft beer newbies a smooth place to start.

It won’t be the brewery’s first appearance outside of Lemont’s borders—as some of its beers are offered in bars in downtown Chicago and throughout the Southland—but for a business just months old, presence at the South Side park is pretty special for Head Brewer Brian Pawola. Pollyanna’s story began with his passion for brewing, paired partners Ed Malner, Paul and Don Ciciora, and Ryan Weidner’s vision for a bustling brew spot at 431 Talcott Ave. in downtown Lemont.

As a way to share their passion (and the beer-making process) with fans, the four men behind Pollyanna have begun offering a monthly brewery tour. The first Saturday of each month, step inside their location in downtown Lemont and get a firsthand look at how they make their beer.

Tickets are $10 each, which covers two, 10-ounce beers, a 45-minute tour, and a souvenir pint glass. The business partners also hope to offer a glimpse inside the passion and optimism of their namesake, an ever-chipper movie character “Pollyanna”—who was known to be “cheerfully and irrepressibly optimistic.”

“Opening and operating a production brewery and taproom is a time-consuming and calculated process that certainly requires plenty of optimism,” they wrote. “We want to share with you our beer, our passion, and the optimistic approach that has led us to this point.”

The next tour is set for 12 p.m. on April 4. Click here for more info.
