Quarryman 10-Mile and 5K Returns to Lemont May 7

Registration is ongoing for the 11th annual race.

LEMONT, IL — The Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile & 5K will return to Lemont on Saturday, May 7. This will be the 11th annual running of the most challenging race in the Chicago area.

The Quarryman has been named one of the toughest races in Chicago by Chicago Athlete Magazine and will be on the CARA Runners’ Choice Competitive circuit for the third year in a row.

New this year is affiliation with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The Quarryman is part of MDA’s Team Momentum, where runners can help raise funds for the MDA.

“There are lots of running races in Chicagoland, but nothing that is as unique and challenging as the Quarryman” said Dave Fako and M.J. Gasik, of Direction Sports.

The event is open for registration and offers the lowest entry fee of any middle distance race in the Chicago area: $45 for the 10 Mile and $25 for the 5K event. Registration is found at: www.quarrymanchallenge.com

The Quarryman race course will utilize the Lemont Village Hall as the center for all race activities. Village Hall will serve as the packet-pick-up location, as the Start / Finish line and post-race awards / party area.

The Quarryman offers elite athletes, age group competitors and fitness runners a different, challenging course in Lemont's unique, scenic and small town setting. The races start and finish in historic downtown Lemont. The course winds through the scenic and hilly historic neighborhoods of Lemont.

The race is owned and operated by the Village of Lemont and used to promote the Village and local businesses and the wide variety of outdoor activities available in Lemont’s unique geography. The race is organized by Co-Race Directors Dave Fako and Dan Ganzer who have been involved with it since its inception in 2006.
