A Sweets Dream Come True

Lemont woman celebrates the opening of her bakery on Stephen Street.

LEMONT, IL — It was a long 10 months, but Kathleen Gibson was finally able to swing open the door of her dream come true.

Gibson's bakery Sinfully Delicious Cupcakes and Treats opened last week at 209 Stephen St. The bakery offers custom cupcakes, cookies, brownies, donuts, coffee cakes, ice cream, novelty candy, and baking supplies.

Her love of baked goods can be traced back to time spent alongside her grandmother.

“Every time I am in the kitchen, she is with me," Gibson told Patch in a previous interview.

Gibson’s business experience includes 19 years in city government, direct sales for 5 years, and vendor shows. Her baked goods have been sold by private order for more than five years. This will be her first established bakery.

“I have always dreamed of owning my own bakery and ice cream parlor," she told Patch. "To have that old-fashioned feeling the minute you enter the door.

"...I am so excited, my dream has finally come true! The community has been wonderful, so warm and welcoming!"

Gibson is "beyond happy" with how the bakery turned out. "I wish my gram was here to see it." she told Patch.

She is aiming for a May 25 grand opening.

"That's my Gram's birthday and it would feel right," she said.
