Three LHS Wrestlers Win State, Program Breaks School Records

Lemont High School claimed three state titles and two second place finishes at the IHSA Class 2A wrestling state finals Feb. 21-22.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School claimed three state titles and two second place finishes at the IHSA Class 2A wrestling state finals Feb. 21-22. Drew Nash, Apollo Gothard and Mo Jarad and were all named state champions. Kyle Schickel and Grant LaDuke both finished as state runner-ups.

The high school shared on its Facebook page that Nash won the state title match at 126 pounds; Gothard completed a perfect season with his first place finish at 220 pounds; and Jarad took the state title at 285 pounds.

Schickel placed second at 145 pounds, and became the first four-time state medalist in LHS wrestling history, the school shared. LaDuke also finished second at 152 pounds, and earned his third state medal.

This is Lemont's first year with state champion winners since 2010 and it is the first time ever that the program has had three state titles in one year.
