Train Derailment Cancels Metra’s Heritage Corridor Morning Routes
Freight train on Canadian National Railway derailed early Monday blocking both Metra tracks between Lockport and Willow Springs.

LEMONT, IL — Metra service on the Heritage Corridor said due to a freight train derailment east of Lemont, HC trains are canceled Monday morning. According to WLS-TV, a Metra spokesperson reported the transit agency found out around 3 a.m. Monday about a freight train that derailed on the Canadian National Railway, blocking both Metra tracks between Lockport and Willow Springs.
The incident resulted in the cancellation of the three morning HC trains scheduled to run from Joliet to Chicago, according to Metra.
Metra HC said passengers are encouraged to use Rock Island Joliet, BNSF, and SWS lines as alternate routes.
